Its magic

I got some Army Painter super glue activator and I was initially a bit skeptical but should not have worried. It works a treat and after a few trials I have got the technical sorted. Its great for glueing those pesky arms that are tricky to pin. No worries just super glue, hold together (the hard part) and then spray. It really stinks and I would advise some fresh air straight afterwards.

you can quote me but "its the best thing since sliced bread" ;-) Yeah no more curses and worse when trying to superglue.

If you are unfamiliar with Hirst Arts have a look at his web site for lots of tips and videos of how to use the molds and make lots of cool thing , for example (picture from Hirst Arts)

I use Victor dental plaster and can normally do 4 casts each mix. I normally dry outside and then finish the drying in my lounge. I use Craft Smart "tacky craft glue" from spotlight, it allows you to move blocks after glueing to get them perfectly aligned. I then ink with black indian ink from Warehouse Stationary before painting with resene test pots. I'm not promoting these companies just trying to help if you are looking for good products for terrain projects.

Price of paint

I got some paint today and I couldn't get over the price. It cost me $7 a pottle for GW foundation and inks.

Whats that about!

I could have got it online for only $3.70 which is almost half of what I paid. Man stuff like this make me angry, when we are obviously getting ripped off. I should have checked prior to purchasing but I was desperate.

Painting - Using quickshade dipping mix finished models

Here are the finished models. I just dry brushed on some highlights, painted the bases with a matt brown and did the eyes etc.

I think they came out ok, considering the how quick they are to paint. I especially like the base on Grandma and the shadowing on the madness is very good as well. I left the shine on it cos is a spirit!

Eden - Gaming board with some more bits

I made some terrain pieces that I could just put on board with very neutral colors. Also got some 1:43 size vehicles as the Eden models are 30mm , I think they will be ok. Its getting there but I would like to try and get some train carriages as well.

New Maifaux recruits based

Popped the new models onto the back2basix resin bases. I'm using a 50mm base that had a tree stump on it for the Avatar trees. Makes it a bit higher and looks better I think.

Snow Storm

Apparently the small model is storm and the large model is snow?

Very nice resin model and it definitely the way for wyrd to go, so it was disappointing to see that the Gencon Teddy is metal! Whats that about, its a backward step I think. Rant over... Snowstorm is very cool and I cant wait to paint it.

Apology for night shot but you get the idea. Mounted on Back2Basix resin base. I wanted Snow to be higher so mounted on a tree trunk, which is hidden by storms arms. I hope I have that the right way around, snow storm or storm snow?

Note: The number of wounds changed from 6 (in book) to 8 on card. Also ice tornado has become a ranged spell (gun icon added) which makes it harder to hit. I think this is to power down the potential to Overpower this spell , wash and repeat.

On the workbench

I've been working on my Hamelin crew, can't reveal too many details as I have a game this weekend ;-)

I've also made up some models for my neverborn crews, some insidious madness . I put the arms on in different places, bent some bits here and there and mounted on forest bases. They are nightmare, spirit woes that floating models with stats of 8/8 , 2 , 5 , 2 , 6 and 3. 

Very cool.

I undercoated my DF fleet and here is a frigate. I will start dry brushing as I think they will come up very nice using this technique. Probably finish with blue or red extreme highlights. I will have to test one to have a look.

I have been painting my DW flyers. I have a unit of 3 KoB Bombers undercoated. I also have 2 new Hawks undercoated and ready to start overbrushing with a lighter brown.

I have based all of my Hamelin crew , using milliput to create some "dirt" bases. I Also have based Ryle.

I have been working on my frigates, basing them on some ID submarine lead tokens. It has provide a much needed weight to stop the frigates tipping over and it means I can position the sails in a realistic fashion. 

Very please with these. I might end up basing all my US Ralgard boats.

Not much progress, made up the Dindrenzi Federation models.

KoB Hawk Scout Rotor

My KoB Hawk Scout Rotor arrived today. First impression, excellent molding and detail, the resin really does hold the fine detail better than using the metal. Separate rotors and gun to finish off. Size, well see the comparison to the metal bomber.

Lets get them painted for a game I have this Sunday. Very cool.

I have been too busy recently to do any posting. I'm still alive and kicking, just busy with my other life.

Hope to have some Malifaux goodness soon and maybe even some new terrain projects.

I recently sold one of my Ork Squiggoths, its a pretty cool model I converted up from a FW squiggoth.

I still have one left to go with my Blood Axe army. Its painted green/red and its a bit bigger. Go for my Nobz to ride in.

Here is my Dystopian Wars Prussian bomber with a decal . I hand painted around it, the decal gave me something to paint to. I think its ok.

I made up some decals and have linked to them from here. I'm still finding this quite a tricky operation but I think its just practice. The first decals I tried I printed on white paper but you have to cut very neatly around them and when they are 5mm its tough. Second batch I printed were on clear paper but you need to paint underneath what colour you want to see showing through...

Oh well I'll get better.

A bit of History

I have been painting my Uncharted Seas models and thought I'd post a picture of my painting area. My Ralgard and Iron Dwarves are WIP and enjoying it. I use Citadel foundation , Vallejo and Citadel inks.

And some of my models, Dystopian Wars, Confrontation, Plague Marines and Malifaux

I then thought I would post some of my old models, I was listening to the D6Gen podcasts and they were discussing some of there old games. The ork warboss (40K) on a war bike (which is a Carnosaur) is one of my favorite conversions.

Any one of the most enjoyable to paint is the "Troll" from Confrontation. He has sausages wrapped around his arm and some fish for lunch. Its one of the nicest models ever, Rackham had the best models.
