Malifaux new release

I'm looking forward to the new Arcanists releases in July, especially this one ..(image hotlinked from Wryds forum page)

My plan is to make a snow/ice terrain board with lots of snow and ice made out of resin. New models are a very good source of inspiration and an excellent reason to make some more terrain.

small brick project part 3

I quickly painted using same method as before. I need to finish by adding detail and deciding of how to finish bases. I would like to get some gas power street lights and some other items ... some streets would be could. Maybe I could paint a board up ..(hmmm, a future project to be added to the list)... I'm happy , buildings look similar construction but have different shapes etc.

Small brick project part 2

I have been back at work so not much progress. Although I have made 3 different styles using the small brick mold. Have a look at the 'house' , 'factory' and 'hq'.

I think the house's roof is too large compared to walls. I might add a second floor. I'm sort of just playing around but the small bricks and slate will help theme the board.

Terrain blitz-part 16 - Small brick project

I made up 2 molds using some of Hirst's small bricks mold. I wanted some larger sections to speed up the whole process of casting and building houses. I carved some "damage" into the walls that will be painted a different color to the bricks.

They came out ok, but I did not get them the same length, Duh. Oh well they are easy enough to trim.

Here is a prototype house, its a bit square but you get the idea. The plan is to make lots of single and double story house enough to make a small suburb in Malifaux. I'll make some houses, a hotel, a baker, etc I trimmed the window and made a door. The scale looks good , thanks to Bishop.

I also made up some city type walls using the small bricks.

I hope all of this gives you some incentive to make some terrain. It makes the games more tactical and creates a strong theme to make the world of Malifaux come alive.

I put a few models into shots, I think its worked out ok. I made all this from plaster and wood. The mold for the pipes and roof was from Hirsts and I made the other 2 molds for the bricks and the ruined fences.

I wasn't happy with the roof of the house. So I made a hole in it and trimmed slightly smaller. I think the proportions are good and once painted (waiting for glue to dry) it will look even better. I added a pitched roof for the ruined factory and it looks ok.

Back upto full steam! which is appropriate on a steampunk inspired table.

Painting ruined house and ruined factory has started. I also got my mold from Hirst Arts and have quickly made up a slate roof.  It looks a big big, I might have to change angle from 45 to maybe 30? A WIP. Maybe I need to put a big hole in the complete side. Also used small brick mold to create door frame. Ruined factory is first, then ruined house.

I started another building, not really any plan apart from multi level. I will probably have a break while I wait for the slate mold. I might change some of the original walls to be more consistent and add a few more pipes etc to strongly theme the board.

Here is yesterdays house? with a floor added, i will add a partial roof soon :-)

Here is today house? I might change some of the pipes to use 45 degree instead of 90.

I decided to make another piece using the brick mold I made. Its going to be a ruined factory with pipes etc and have a second floor. I will also put a ruined roof on once I get my slate mold from Hirst Arts. I really like these roof mold and I have used the shingle one, but decided to get a more city type mold.

I have used a 2 inch height for the second floor and will put wooden beams and flooring on soon. I will also build wooded rafters etc to support the roof.

Terrain blitz-part 9

My small brick mold that I ordered is slowing moving through the international postal service, so I decided to make a small brick wall section myself. I scored a brick pattern into a plaster wall I had previously made. I then made a silicone mold (picture to come) and let it cure overnight. Lesson number 6 - I should have made one edge staggered so that I could have a tidy corner join. Oh well. Making my own molds has made me really appreciate the professionals, Bruce Hirsts molds and the effort he has put in to make then exact. Cheer Hirst Arts :-)

This piece is inspired by WWII ruined building I saw somewhere but I have added some pipes to theme it to my current project. Bishop is for reference.

Progress so far.

You can see the difference between the dry brushed pieces and the ones that are not. Still very early stages but shaping up ok. I just need to add some rubble and bricks etc to make it look more realistic.
The Mold for the small bricks did not arrive today, maybe tomorrow. I need to get some small bricks on the go......

Terrain blitz-part 7

Some more steam punk type pieces using the small pipe mold from Bruce Hirst. I have just added some pipes and a few bits of timber to add some extra detail. The pipes will be painted up using a metallic color.

This one is a bit haphazard but it might work! Looks like its ready to topple over. Blitz on. 

I must admit I'm waiting on my small brick mold to turn up so I can make some proper walls etc, I need some 2 storied buildings to add some height to my gaming table. Also adds another element to game play when you can go up and down.
