Uncharted Sea - Tervak'nar flagship

What a beast. It a massive bit of resin , very wide and definitely a flag ship. For 155 points you get 9 Hull points, a ram of 9 and 15 side cannons at rage band one.

I have placed a cruiser and a frigate behind to show how big it is

If you have never played US, for those DW players out there it is very similar but without the annoying tiny fighters. There are flying and diving models but I find it plays heaps faster than DW and its a lot of fun! I have two fleets if anyone local wants a game. New hard cover rulebook out soon as well so its probably a good time to get into it.

uncharted Seas - Game on

The Ralgard took on the Orks in a free for all . Lot of dice rolling to be had and lots of  ramming.

Fun game to play and visually very nice. The boats look very nice and even though the terrain needs some work I can see this being played again. Here is  a shot when I (Ralgard) tried a suicidal run through the ork fleet. I almost made it but got rammed by the Battleship. Ramming hurts in US, as you can't disengage and the Orks used there superior numbers to capture the cruiser.

My Battleship is out of the shot but when I brought my guns to bear she performed well. I think the ork player had an advantage as he had two large ships which was the difference between the 2 fleets. We also forgot the effect of the wind, which is quite important, as it really slows down the ships.

Lots of fun and I think the best of the Spartan games as the rules are not bogged down with lots of fluff.

Uncharted Seas - Game this weekend

Well I'm going to have a game of US this weekend. I better try and get some terrain ready and brush up on the rules. Its appropriate timing with the new release of US by Spartan games. The new models look sweet and I'm almost tempted to get some imperial ships.

I like the steam punk look to these models and they have done some good work on remodeling the sails. Anyway here is the Imperial Human Condor Class Flagship.

Check out the Spartan US web page for all the good oil.

I have a Ralgard fleet and like the look of the new Tervak'Nar. What a beast of a model, it will be huge. I also like the look of the rather large ram on the front! Apparently you can land a balloon on the middle cabin! Cool. I better get painting and make sure my Ralgard are ship shape and bristol fashion!

Ralgard based

Some shots of my based Ralgard. Pretty happy with results but sails could do with some more attention.

I'm pleased I took these shots as the mast rake on the last ship is too far forward.

Uncharted Seas - Ralgard based

I thought i would base my Ralgard ( I know its been a while between posts but had real life to deal with) on plastic bases. I found some old GW fantasy movement trays and cut them up to what I thought was about right. Mounted using green stuff and tried to do a random, wave type sculpt. I have base coated and will dry brush asap.

One thing that would be nice regarding the sails would be to have 2 different moulds. One for port and one for starboard. It just doesn't look right if sails a shaped for port hand and mounted on the other side. I think the bases make them look better and at least they won't tip over during a game.

Uncharted Seas - Ralgard WIP

I am making progress painting the Ralgard. I am still not happy with the sails but the overall scheme is ok. I had to use a ID kraken sub base to stop the frigates tipping over but I had some to spare. Its a pity Spartan do not make metal bases for their US range. I think I will get some heavy cruiser to round out the fleet, they are being release early April according to Maelstrom Games web site.

A Jarak Class War Balloon and 2 Kantos tugs

A Dralnak Class Balloonship

A Kalor Class Cruiser and Hantak Class Frigate

Iron Dwarves

Here are my base coated and inked Iron Dwarves. I just want to get them up and running so I can have a game. I like the finished effect and the orange and blue works well. I have some subs to paint and also another Battleship. I also have some decal to put on and of course they need highlighted and detailed but I think they are ok to have a game with.

Custom Decal

I brought a "custom decal kit" made by Testors so I could make some decal (I call them transfers) for my DW and US models. I got some images from Spartans web site and used "pixelmator" to make some 20mm, 10mm and 5 mm shapes. I figure I can put them on the sides of the ships and maybe even print on paper to a makes some flags.

I then printed onto the paper and sprayed. I need to let this dry and then try and cut out and do it!. I need to get some symbols for my planes. I hope this will work as it will add some detail to my models that I cant paint.

Well, this is very tricky stuff, for me anyway. I managed to get one on my KoB Bs but thats as far as I got.

As you can see I have a bit of work to do to finish this model. The coat of arms looks ok so I will keep trying and I will do some more.

Iron Dwarves - test model and Ralgard WIP

I have quickly painted a test model. The scheme will be very simple with orange, blue and grey. I like it.

The Iron Dwarves will be quick to paint (good as the Ralgard aren't) so I should be able to get my fleet ready asap.

Heres is my latest Ralgard model WIP but color scheme is sorted,

and progress on a war ballon (tipped over so you can see bottom)

Iron Dwarves

Uncharted Seas by Spartan Games has been taking quite a bit of my painting time recently. I have the Ralgard and I'm thinking of getting some Iron Dwarves.

The follow image is from Spartans Web site. I really like the shape and the design of the boats. I think they will complement the Ralgard and provide enough differences to have a fun game.

Uncharted Seas

I've settled on my colors green, yellow, purple and grey...

Here is a finished cruiser and a war ballon . I'm really enjoying painting these models. I've never painted any boats before and it challenging.  The ballon will have grey and white panels, purple and yellow flags? and green trim etc.

I think I might start another smaller boat next.

Ralgard test model

These are hard to paint. The sails are just not right and they should have been made out of resin.

Here is the latest version...

Not sure yet.

Uncharted Seas

Here is a test of a "Ralgard". Uhmm. Hull looks ok, sails look crap. I will try again to get a better sail. Sails are always the hardest thing to do on a model boat. The yellow hull with green trim look nice .

Uncharted Seas

Uncharted Seas by Spartan Games has recently been on my gaming radar. I like the models a lot, the naval theme and I especially like the  Ralgard. The Oriental inspire models have a certain mystic associated to them and I noticed today that there is a new release coming. I have inserted a link to an image on Spartans web site.

The Ralgard Raknarl Heavy Cruiser
The Raknarl Class Heavy Cruiser is a well rounded design that can fight at range, carry out Boarding Assaults, and weather enemy assaults with equal ease. Armed with a vicious ram, it is capable of gutting and plundering most enemy ships it comes across.
SPECIAL MAR RULE: Armoured Forecastle

I think I might have to get some and have a look. I also have been thinking that I might make some sales using different material to make them look more realistic but I will have to experiment and see. Its not really a "steampunk" theme but some of the other races have more of a "steampunk" feel to them.
